How accurate is DishPointer?

Hi all -

I just moved to a new house with some pretty heavy tree cover and had the DishMover installer come out only to tell us that we can't get Dish due to a lack of line of sight to the satellites. I looked up my address on DishPointer and it looks like Eastern Arc is pointing slightly off from where the installer told me it was pointing. Being slightly off matters because the way the installer pointed out, there is a large tree in the way, but with the DishPointer site it shows it pointing through a clearing in the trees.

The installer mentioned that his little pointer/compass wasn't working well, so I'm wondering how accurate DishPointer's website is. Any input?

Been dead on when I tried and compared it to my compass. Helped me point at 148 in my area a couple of years ago, shooting at a hole in between two trees.

So more likely a lazy installer who didn't want to get on the roof to install a dish that may not end up working?

It's accurate, but you need to calculate for all satellites you are trying to grab. For Eastern Arc that would be 61.5, 72.7 and 77. Make sure the trees are not in the way for any of the three from your desired location.
