Is it possible for me to temporary remove the diplexar at the back
of the VOOM receiver, so that I can try out a different OTA antenna ?
I tried pulling this out but I'm worried it'll break. Can we do it ?

Look at the back of the diplexer. There are icons showing locked an unlocked positions. You need to unlock it before you can remove it.

Thanks guys. Actually I got VOOM installed last Friday and the installer
"Dishconnect" brought a wineguard GS1000 and just picked a location
on outside roof railing and installed it saying it'd be a good place
but told me I'll have trouble due to trees and a building etc.
I live in South SF bay area where I should be getting SF Sutro tower
stations. (about 30-40 miles). But to my dismay I'm only getting 1 station
ch 48-2 NBC from San Mateo area. Last night I borrowed a Silver Sensor
indoor antenna from a friend, removed the diplexar from the VOOM box,
and hooked the silver sensor up indoors. As I suspected I'm getting
almost all of the Sutro tower stations with proper aligning, although with
some picture beakup. channel 48-2 which I get from the rooftop wineguard
comes up no breakup no matter where I placed the silver sensor.

Seems to me like either this guy didn't align the wineguard properly
or it needs an upgrade. What do you guys think I should do ?

i would call VOOM let them know the antenna just doesnt cut it, and ask for a bigger one, they will most likely try the square shooter. and if that does not work they will upgrade again, if you have to let them know your success with the indoor ant. (beware of warrenty issues) that you know you should be recieving more channels acording to antennaweb maped channels.
