I have been with Dish for over 5 years and I want to upgrade my 522 to at least a DISH Player DuoDVR 625.

I don't have a flat screen TV so HD is not really necessary but I wanted to add an external hard drive to my receiver.

My 522 is a little quirky but works fine and I am still under warranty.

But I don't want to pay extra if the DISH Player DuoDVR™625 is the new stardard given out to new customers.

This is my current Plan:
Classic Gold 250 w/locals - $62.99
Dish Network DVR Service Fee- $ 5.98
HBO - $15.99

And although my receiver is always hooked up to a phone line I didn't receive the $5 credit!

Any ideas?

Do you mean you want to upgrade to a 622 HD DVR? A 625 is a 522 with a larger hard drive and runs on the same software as a 522.

I didn't know that it was basically the same...

I saw that some customers were able to add external hard drives and saw that the 522 is not compatible with that feature.

I'll stick with what have.

Dish does not currently have 625's for upgrades, customers are getting 522's.

I guess I heard wrong, thanks for the correct info...

do you think it makes sense to pay for a upgrade just for more HD space?
