Just noticed that the guide on my 722k only goes out about 7 days as opposed to the 14 or so that it used to on some of the older receivers I had back a few years ago, is this typical or do I have a lemon?

most are 9 days out now, I believe any days removed were most likely to free up hard drive space for more recording time.
Mine have never went out 9 days. My guide shows part of the ninth day, so that day does not count. It never shows prime time on day 9.
That's because the scheduled update time for the guide is in the overnight hours a dn it is normally updated once daily. In cases where an update is foprced at another time of day it will go out somewhat furter.
So, if I change the normal download time to 5PM, it will include 9 days of primetime or will it go thru 5PM on the ninth day.
Here is what you do: At 5PM press and hold your power button to force a reboot. At the end of the boot, the guide will reload. After it reloads, take a look and see how far your guide goes out. Report your findings here....
I set the download for 5PM and checked the guide prior to the download. It went out until 10AM on the ninth day. After the download, it went out until 12:30PM. Wow, I gained 2 1/2 hours of guide, but the download was 15 hours later.

This will not often work when you want your guide updated because technically the guide is not out dated so it will not download/update the guide during reboot. However, there's is another way to do it and you don't even reboot the receiver.
Go to point dish screen (6, 1, 1) and then go the right to check switch screen and then press test. After that is done. Press "view live tv" on your remote and wait about 10 minutes for the receiver to check for satellites and download the guide.
The nine day guide gets extended in 6 hour blocks each day at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00 UTC. If you schedule your guide download for a couple of minutes after those times, you will get a full 9 days.
The 44 hour guide for non-DVR receivers gets extended in 4 hour blocks at 00:00, 04:00, 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00 UTC.
