Does the little overlay ever go away? Right now it says "Mirage Las Vegas". And it is not really little. About a 1/5 of the screen.

Your Welcome ... My drive will be at 30 gigs or less free after this weekend... LOTR and Firefly...and I have been filling my 622 up with Csi Miamis from A & E, going to replace all my Replay mpegs recorded off of CBS HD with these...

Answered my own question there. Looks like it just changes every once in a while, doesn't ever go away. Total bummer!
I have concerns about burn in on my CRT, otherwise I would record this and play at all the time (parties, or just when I want to relax). I do have my contrast and brightness set properly, but that is still pushing it. The overlay is not transparent at all.
25 gigs left... The LOTR series are a little above 15 gigs so far, so after tonights episode and RV I will have around 5 gigs left...
Moved BSG the mini series back to 622 and got the Seagate back up to 30 gigs... I did some creative moving around of Replay mpegs and freed up a Maxtor 320 gig drive... moving Csi Miami's to it now 
I just got done moving The Shawshank Redemption out to ext. 9.5GB! HBO-HD must not be MPEG4.

Not pointing at 148 here. Just 110/119 and a 24" dish at 129. I'd love to be able to get 148 but a nearby forest utterly prevents that.
I think this is the third time TNT has had them all at the same weekend. Before that it was singles multiple times over a weekend as they became avalable. So... not to worry they will be on again soon enough ;-)
I wish Starz would re-air the trilogy though. Getting it without commercials in HD would be nice.

I've filled up about 90% of my first 500GB hard drive, but I have another one just waiting for when I need it.
I'm not happy about it. Paying $40 to activate a promised feature so that I can use a drive that I provide is excessive IMO. I guess it's time for me to stand up against the nuisance fees.Quote from a Titanic passenger that was lost at sea:

I guess it would make sense that if you were to begin standing against "nusiance" fees, you would start with a purely non-essential service provided for entertainment purposes only. They are the only services you could get away with refusing. All the other ridiculous and unnecessary fees we pay in life are tied to things we need.
Of course, there are other companies that don't charge for this service but it is a royal pain to have to change everything over. Especially if you bought equipment or signed an agreement.
Might as well put that drive to use elsewhere, there's no telling if that fee will ever go away.
Some companies just charge you a few extra dollars a month and include everything without a fee. Dish prefers to charge as little as possible for their service and then use fees to make up the difference. In a capitalistic oriented society, you will pay one way or the other.
I guess perception is more important to consumers than reality.

I like having external drive ability (wish it was via ESATA, speed would be so much better) but I don't have much I want to save, I watch stuff and delete it, this will be nice when fall starts up as there are a lot of HD primetime I record so this way i'll have overflow ability, too bad we can't automatically archive to the drive yet.
Fell below 10% free on my 500gb today. 
Gotta get another I guess. I am thinking I will do one for movies and one for TV shows. Maybe go a step further and get 2 more, do one for new TV shows and one for cartoons. It would be great to have every episode of The Simpsons, Family Guy, King of Hill, South Park, etc all in one place.
