Anyone have any idea on when Directv will stop shipping in referb equipment to HSP's? I'm waiting on two HR24's, but my local HSP doesnt have them in stock due to directv shipping them referbished equipment to them in lue of HR24's I would really like to get rid of the HR 20's for 24's. Just wondering how long its going to be, before the supply chain on the HR24's get back in order.

I live in Seattle and got 24's installed. I mentioned the supply problems with the installer and he didn't know what I was talking about and said there were plenty 24's to go around here in Seattle.

This is a total crapshoot. There will always be refurb equipment flowing.

If you truly want HR24 and only HR24 you are best to buy them yourself (online retail) or gain someones trust at the HSP (installer or office manager or something) and reach out to them once a week or so.

When I was in need of a SWM16 and it was delayed I ended up talking to the office manager for Multiband (my HSP) once a week or so. This can be tough, DirecTV will not give out their number. I just knew it was Multiband and started calling around their local offices till I found who had my work order.

When I called to add HBO a couple of weeks ago, I was told that I qualified for a free HD DVR. I told them I wanted an HR24 then. They said they would get back to me.

They called back and said it would probably be another HR21 (refurb) since they are only installing HR24's on new whole home DVR installs. It sucks they won't give their older subs a break. I've suffered with these SLOW HR21's long enough. Remote commands take up to 10 seconds.

They said to get an HR24, I would have to buy a new one from an online retailer like Solid Signal for $199.

I guess for legal reasons they have to give new customers new equipment? They installed HR24 and H24 in my house this weekend. What is the difference between the HR24 and HR21? the newer one is a little bit faster?
