How loud is a Hopper?

Bedroom TV is older and has no HDMI input, only component. Is the Hopper quiet enough to live in the bedroom?

I don't hear my Hopper (living room) or Joey (bedroom).

I have 2 Hoppers and they are extremely quiet. I can't detect any noise from the fan or hard drive on either one.

Yes, but I'd sooner buy a new TV and use the old one to replace a SD set.

Mine varies from almost silent about 70% of the time to sounding like a lawn mower is running one hundred yards away the other 30% of the time.

I'm in the exact same scenario as you. I've had the hopper in the bedroom since the day they were released. it is certainly loud and annoying enough to make me strongly consider replacing the television. I'm going to give it another couple of weeks to decide.

Because if I got a newer TV with HDMI input, I could use a silent Joey instead of the Hopper.

The Hopper is EXTREMELY quiet. I wouldn't worry about it.
