I have a 8 footer solid iron dish which I feel is quite heavy for my 24" actuator (rated at 600 lbs). When the dish goes to extreme East (10 E) (I am at 73E) I feel the actuator has to work hard as the dish moves slower until it reaches the 25E then gains speed. Also it sounds heavier.

Any idea how can I help the actuator ? I was thinking of adding a 20Kg weight on the other side of the dish and also later found somebody already doing it (https://protechparabola.files.wordp...h-terpasang-pada-mounting-parabola1.jpg?w=900). Any better ideas?

Once I figure out how I'm going to modify my BUD mount to go lower, than 55W, I am adding a counter-balance weight. (25+ yr old VonWeise & 100% Steel BUD)
Similar to one shown here but modified for use on a polar mount.

Fat Air,I hope it doesn't cost you as much as the set-up on that link. :eeek Egads!

Wire rope, pulley and a weight also assists with heavy lifts. The weight is only lifted as the dish nears the horizon. Once the dish is lifted past the extreme, the weight sits back onto the platform.
