I am making a short film and I need to buy a 6' C band mesh dish for a prop.

I can't find any retail places in my area. It looks like a dish purchase is locked into service contracts. I am in New York. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Welcome to this site, your question would be best at the right section which is C-BAND.
Anyhow, look in your local classifieds like Craigslist. Sometimes you find them for free there.

Good luck

my suggestion is to drive around the rural part of your state find some one who still has one knock on their door and ask if you can have it. Odds are they are not using it and will let you have it for free if you hall it away.

I have a 10' mesh dish - an old Janile Dark Star - that looks really nice still. I'm in New York - but upstate near Binghamton. I imagine moving it would be difficult, though it does come apart. I believe these were designed to be UPS shippable.

The suggestion to drive around in a rural area is a good one. I still a lot of old dishes in yards since it's easier to just let them rot in place than to remove them.
