How to record and watch another program on DVR 510 on Dish Network

We have a DVR 510 for dish network.

This DVR only allows us to record a live program.

I cannot watch a program and record another program in the back ground.

Someone said that we can have 2 cables connected on the back of the DVR 510, this way we can watch one program and record another program simultaneously.


Can someone tell me if its possible. And how to.

The 510 can only record one item. It is a single tuner unit. So if you record something you cannot watch another live program at the same time. Now you might be able to watch a pre-recorded program from the hard drive.

Correct the 510 is only one tuner. You can record only one thing at a time. You can record one and watch something on the drive, but you can not record a program and watch another live. You would need to upgrade to a dual tuner unit to be able to watch one and record one.
