-----------------

Please note **** -700 Model only *****

IMPORTANT ISSUE WITH THIS RELEASE
A late breaking defect was found that could not be fixed in time for tonight's CE.

For this CE, DO NOT re-run the OTA channel setup.
Re-running the OTA setup will give the wrong map of OTA channels and all OTA channels will be unavailable until the next CE.
Leaving the OTA unchanged from a working setting will continue to work fine.

CHANGES FROM THIS RELEASE:

  • LiveTV audio issues after stopping mediashare and no audio during slideshow
Fast forward to true live TV viewing
    History status for VOD downloads
    Improved audio
    Stability

New feature(s)

  • GameSearch to automatically find same game on other channel if currently tuned game is blacked out and showing OSD X
Keyword search on channel or channel range and title only or name only (Notes on how to use this in the next post)

Here is how to use the new search engine:

This is a summary of the keyword search power tricks from the programmers:

Simple Grammar:
[{AANY/AALL} <tokens>] [{NNOT} <tokens>] [TTITLE/NNAME] [{CCHAN} <number> [<number>]]

BOOLEAN LOGIC:

“AALL” => (this is the AND boolean operation) all the following words must be contained within the program (title, about, name, episode, category) in any order
“AANY” => (this is the OR boolean operation) at least one of the following words must be contained within the program (title, about, name, episode, category)
“NNOT” => (this is the NOT boolean operation) exclude any programs that contain any of the following words in that search string

The AANY and AALL keywords should appear as the first word in the search string in order to set the search mode.
The NNOT keyword may appear anywhere and all words following the NNOT keyword are considered words to exclude.

SCOPE FILTERS:

TTITLE => Limits the search to only the Title field of the Programs
NNAME => Limits the search to only the Name field (e.g. Actors, Director) of the Program
CCHAN => Limits the search to only the specified channel range (example CCHAN 500 510, or CCHAN 500 for a single channel)

Some sample queries are:

AALL racing car NNOT nascar => finds all shows containing “car” and “racing” (any order/position), but excludes the show if “nascar” appears
AALL hanks tom NNOT vinci => finds all tom hanks movies/shows but excludes the movie if the word “vinci” appears (e.g. da vinci code)
AALL hanks tom NNAME => finds all tom hanks programs where he is an actor
AALL hdtv football => finds all high definition football programs (note you can include category labels in the search and “HDTV” is same as “High-Def”)
AANY usc ucla NNOT football => finds all usc and ucla events/shows, but excludes football events
oakland raiders NNOT miami => finds exact match for “oakland raiders” but excludes show if “miami” appears (e.g. excludes games with Miami Dolphins)
AANY lakers clippers CCHAN 700 730 => finds all games with the Lakers or Clippers on only channels 700 through 730
AANY lakers clippers CCHAN 710 => finds all games with the Lakers or Clippers on only channel 710

Fast forward to true live TV viewing

This should fix the bug that you couldn't get back to live sometimes, it would stay 10-20 seconds behind.

GameSearch to automatically find same game on other channel if currently tuned game is blacked out and showing OSD X

This is a really neat feature. I didn't know D* used the on-screen X for blackouts, I know Dish does, but never saw that on my HR20.

Ideally, say you're an NHL package subscriber. You tune to the games in your NHL range - in the 700s.
The game you tune to is blacked out because it is on your RSN (in the 600s). The receiver would change channel to the non-blacked out version. Cool if it works!

Important caveat for this C/E...
Very Important Warning!!

Thanks Moonman, I was just notified of this as well.

I"ll add it to the main notes above.

If you have OTA - read the notice - and decide if you want the CE or want to wait untill next week.

Masterdeals,
From what your saying, is don't run the OTA set up after the CE ?

I never have to re run the OTA set up normally, so is this ok to D/L , are they expecting OTA problems with this CE , or only if you need to re run ?

Jimbo

Exactly :)

Move forward as planned - just be aware not to re-run OTA setup. Some of the hardcore testers do stuff like that all night long - just looking for the needle flaw in the haystack of code :D

Since we don't know exactly what will get broke with the OTA, I will pass on this one, at least until tomorrow to see what the comments are..I'll bet the 1st day d/l counts
will be small this time:eek:...

I'm in ...
To BOLDLY Go, where no HR20 has gone !!!

Any trouble, you can always go back to the NR , won't miss much seeing there was a recient one only a few days ago.

Something strange with this release. When I try to stream some HD content from my HTPC, the HR-20 squeezes the video to 4:3, instead of displaying it in 16:9.

Regardless, it still only plays the HD video for a few seconds, then stops. They had this working a few months ago, I wonder what they changed in MediaShare that screwed it up.

That happened several CEs ago (the first CE with video media share worked fine for HD). There have been some discussions about this on DBSTalk and the consensus is that it is bitrate-related. I hoped it would have been resolved by now.

There are enough issues (particularly formatting) with 0x202 in any case.

Yeah, I believe it's the bitrate also, as SD mpeg2 transport streams work fine.

Based on a few videos for which I have bitrate information, it seems like the maximum which works is around 6-8 Mbps. I am now using powerline networking to my HR21, but originally tried wireless. It didn't work very well because the path goes through two exterior walls (my house is L-shaped). It would play for a few seconds and then pause, like it needed to refill a buffer. With that condition, a HD video wouldn't drop out. It may be some sort of buffer overrun which wasn't there initially. In addition to Media Share, this will need to be fixed before MRV is introduced.

For the few that downloaded this, anyone tried tuning a game that is blacked out to see what would happen? Does it find the right station?

I would try but I missed the windows this weekend.
