I am experiencing very significant responsiveness issues with my HR23 when I try to Page Up / Page Down the Playlist, especially when I click to "expand" a folder with multiple entries. I have an external eSATA 1TB drive attached to the HR23 and have lots of kids programs recorded (50 - 70 in two or three folders). Is this a know deficiency/issue with DirecTV HD DVRs? Same problem exists when trying to DELETE programs.

Yes this is a known issue. DirecTV has chosen to heap on more features onto their DVRs rather than making the units operate more efficiently.

But Directv has recently started working on a new software update, to fix existing features and to improve speed and Stability. If all goes well the new software update will happen with a few weeks. This update will have NO new features.

Seriously? I have the latest CE and notice no improvement whatsoever. If anything, it may be worse. Don't be to be harsh, just dont want this guy to get his hopes up.
He is talking about the CE program, which anyone can participate in. It supposedly has "under the hood improvements". We've seen this before. It rarely improves GUI perfromance, and in this cycle, it has not. If anything GUI performance has gotten worse with this CE. Unfortunately, this is a national release candidate. Prepare for your HR2x to get worse.
I hope not, cause after that National software release during prime time (all 3 of them) my system has been perfectly stable. I can't remember how long ago that was, but I did a reboot last night because of some sluggishness. That's not bad for 3 months or so of stability. After a few hours, the system is back up to normal speed.
I'm in the CE program and have not been told what Sundude90 is claiming here about what the new national releases will exactly be and the time of release...was he just assuming then or is there official news I missed?
