That should be no problem. At Dish, with multiple Hoppers (servers to Joeys), you can link the any of the Joeys to one or the other Hopper. You can see and play all recordings but can only set timers on the linked Hopper. Rebooting a Hopper only affects the linked Joeys.

Oh I'm aware DISH does for multiple Hopper-Joeys.

But I was referring to never hearing anything about DIRECTV fixing this problem. To which I guess they would have no reason to since they have no intent of allowing multiple Genie installations.

Just pointing out that dealing with multiple servers can be easily accomplished.
