Coupons expire in 90 days. So wait until MAY, when the TR-40 is available...

It says they wont mail until March.
My tax money too, anytime I can get money back the govt takes from me, i'm going to do it.
I'm sure they'll be plenty to go around.

Pretty screwed up darrencp22, if you don't need them, why bother? Someone out there actually has a need for them.
I'm pretty sure that the government will see to it that anybody who wants a coupon will get one.

Both political partys should use a comment like this to get more votes.
They should see that everyone who NEEDS a coupon gets one. Beyond that, it's just fraud, waste and abuse.
AFAIK, this program isn't funded by tax dollars, it's funded by the proceeds from auctioning off the freed up spectrum.
It dont matter to me. Govt takes my money and this is a way to get something back.
I did not fraud anyone. The question asked if I have any cable or satelitte service and/or receivers and I said yes. They still chose to send me the coupons. If they dont want me to have these, then change the rules. The rules now say I am eligible. The real fraud is people who do not pay taxes getting $300 rebate checks.

Didnt lie, didnt cheat. I answered the questions honestly. Look at the website before you comment.
I think that the Congress decided that it would cost too much to set up a regulatory agency to audit the coupon program, and went with the honor system. Suckers!
Polticians and Honor do not belong in the same text... Nah we're the suckers. We voted for them.
All I know is i'm eligible for the thing. So maybe i'll need it down the line, maybe someone I know could use it... or maybe I can sell it. Either way the program says i'm eligible, so i'm grabbing it.

Looking at the rules then everyone is eligible. I just applied for my 2 coupons for government cheese umm I mean ATSC converters.
And since Dish last night encouraged all viewers to get their coupons I did just that, and I am sure to get it so that my coupon is expired before the Echostar TR40 hits the streets.
Once again the incompetence shines through at Echostar. These tuners should have already been available, not delayed until May. Look at all these first wave coupons that will not be used for Echostar boxes. (BTW the boxes will be marketed as Sling ATSC converters not as Echostar ATSC converters)

I hadnt thought of that... this is basically FREE MONEY for Echostar. Thats just bad business!
Got ya. Thanks for the heads up. I wasnt planning to sell the coupon itself. For the immediate future I wasnt planning on selling anything.
No coupons/gift cards have been mailed yet. The selection of eligible converter boxes today is very, very slim, not to mention not in any walk-in retail stores (yet).
Maybe Dish will let people "pre-order" their boxes so that the gift cards are applied to the purchase before they expire. I think a 90-day limit is a bit short myself....
I think that the web site just made a terrible error. I think what they meant was to NOT give coupons to anyone that checked that they have cable or Sat and they just plain screwed up. Anyone else think so?
