i just got a satellite dish fta standard ku lnbf 31" with

a quatum msr model 1500 mutimedia satellite receiver dv3.

i need to know how to set it all up.i am new to this fta thing.

i just want to get in galaxy 10r at 123.0°W for now.
and am wondering if i can get some local channels, on this fta system???

my i live in , pa.

i once had a c-band system, and was able to get galaxy 10r, and all of the c-band birds, up there.i tried useing my quatum msr 1500 receiver with my c-band dish and got nothing but a 94 singal, o below it, on galaxy 10r.

so all i need is a step by step guide on how to setup the quatum 1500 receiver with this standard ku lnbf 31" fta satellite dish.and i want to mout the dish on the wall of my house.

and need some help with seting up and aming the dish.

thanks ahead in return.

HELLO and WELCOME to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum!

Here are all the angles to the satellites from your location to get you started.....

Do not have that receiver, but if its a Standard KU LNBF make sure the L.O. is set to 10750.

If your receiver has blind scan and you are on or close to the satellite try a Blind scan!

ok. thanks psb, but i need to know hot to set the latitude to 41° 50.718'N and longitude 79° 8.574'W up, on the dish.

i don't have the c-band dish any more.just some old c-band lnbs , on is lnbf.

2ed ? can i get c-band or ku-band with the winegurad dish?? i have 2 spare c/ku band receivers.

it says in the quatum msr model 1500 mutimedia satellite receiver manual, that i need to input the channel data manualy?

and i don't understand thecharts at LyngSat

Your 31" dish can only be used for ku-band. When you look at the TP #'s. The ones with 4 digits are C-band and the ones you need have 5 digits for ku-band. If it's a dual band (C/ku) satellite, the C-band will be listed 1st, with the ku-band next, and if there's any DBS (which are also ku), the DBS is usually listed last.

You can check your manual to find out where to input the latitude and longitude but you don't even need it unless you are using a motor. For G10 without motor do the following:

1. Use a compass to find 246 degrees and face the dish that way.

2. Skew the LNB to 37.7

3. Set elevation on the dish scale to about 24.5. Be aware that this is a ballpark figure you may have to adjust it until you get a signal. Best way is to have a TV at the dish.

You are shooting for KU signals not Cband so look for 5 digit frequencies on Lyngsat. You will not be able to get any locals in your area (I live about 35 or 40 miles from you). For G10 11720 V is one frequency you will use with a symbol rate of 27692.

Good Luck

so which way is 37.7?
when faceing the dish ,when skewing it.

Have a look at the picture in the (above)Sadoun link, its half way down the page :)

is right 10 per turn or is left 10 per turn????

i still don't get it.

what do the grenn numbers mean on the chart? just wodering how to program in the outdoor channel east on galaxy 10r...

and my dish came with out any bolts, in order to mout it to the side of my house.

so i need to know what size of bolts i need to mout this thing on the side of my house. and how far should i put it up????

Thats a C-Band channel. You would need at least a 6' dish and C-Band LNBF

C-Band 4 digit Freq.

KU-Band 5 digit Freq.

I use 2" lag bolts for wood but it depends what kind of siding surface your house has. And the dish should be as low as it can go and still see the satellites.

Watch out for anything overhanging the dish (Eaves / balcony) as that can cause problems with signal.

Just out of curiosity, what methods should one use to achieve ".7" skew and ".5" elevation? I feel as though I am in the stone ages with my metal elevation scale on the bottom of my 76cm Winegard dish.

well am getting nothing!!!

i have my tried 20 to 30 for my el. and have moved the lnbf evryway i can think of !! and i have moved the dish from south to north!

i just keep getting singal 90 or 92..but no quaity singal! this singal bar does not go up or down , most of the time.the last time i tried to get some thing it just stayed at 92, that was 3 hrs ago..it didn't move abit!

it is the same singal as when i jst had the lmbf hooked up, to no dsih.just testing the lmbf than, to see if it was good.

every thing is level.with the dish.

Untill you get this figured out , shoot for

AMC 5 79.0W 179.8 191.1 41.7 -0.2

As your due south sat .

Set the menue in the receiver to transponder 11742 or 11742000 frequency . Vertical polarity , Symbol Rate of 11110 or 11110000 , power on . Look at the label on the LNBF to see the L O F , enter that info into the receiver . Skew will be very close to zero . Dish will point to within 1.2 degrees of due south ( true ) or 11.1 degrees from magnetic south . Elevation 41.7 degrees . The mounting pipe MUST be plumb , both directions for these numbers to work .

Now scan that transponder / frequency & hopefully you will find

Utah Education Network .

Best of luck ,
