Has anyone's seen or owned a Icom R-9000 reciever that was built back in the early 90's.

That baby cost you arm and a leg! Was priced at $ 8k.:biggrin

Used to cover 100KHz to 2 GHz unblocked "if you are lucky to have unblocked verson"

This reciever was way ahead before SDR came out in the 21st century world.:hatsoff

Never owned one and just curious about the classic rig.:hungry

I've played with one and they are very nice. However, the new Icom R-8600 beats it hands down in just about all performance categories and at a much cheaper price. Rob Sherwood has tested both receivers and published the results here along with many other receivers and transceivers. The R-8600 was one of the best he ever tested. The R-9000 is still no slouch, its bigger and operates very smooth and I don't think anyone would be unhappy with one if they get it for a good price.
