I've concluded that "ultra" is short for "ultra frustrating."

Every time I try to upgrade firmware, it corrupts the sat list and even though I have it backed up, it still doesn't restore or work correctly.

Are there any HD/PVR boxes that don't do this crap?

Wow that bad huh.. I never had that problem with an Elite HD
You might have better luck with a PC based DVB card,

yeah the elite I havent had any issues with upgrading software

seems like that and the Premium are the best of the bunch of the azboxes :)

That's "normal" for the AZBox. The Sat / Channel Lists are not compatible between all versions of the software. Update to the Versions you want to use, then setup your Sat / Channel lists.

I have that problem with the Elite. I just live with it. Plus the recording feature isn't exactly "ready for prime time" either. A lot of money spent for a buggy device.

Hmm, a PCIe DVB sounds like an interesting alternative. I suppose it has it's problems also.
