RE: [VOOM] Re: In need of antenna person in North Jersey...
Yes, my install was great and my parents install, who got three receivers,
was flawless. We are very happy with VOOM from the start to the finish.

Is there any Voomer that gets a proper install off the bat? I went
the self service route and put up a channelmaster 3021 multi-bowtie
($24 from starkelectronics.com) using the Voom mounting hardware w/ a
conduit pipe extension and gets just about everything. Took some
fooling around though. A professional install will cost you $300, but
is probably worth it, as antenna reception is very tricky sometimes
just moving the antenna a few feet will result in getting some
channels you couldn't, but then other channels you did all of a
sudden don't come in. If you do it yourself, check
www.antennaweb.org to see if all of your transmitting stations are in
the same general direction, this helps. If not, might make more
sense to get a pro. A professional install should result in perfect
reception of ALL channels reasonably expected, accept no less.
Check
www.avsforum.com for recommendations, that is your best bet.
Also, look at yellow pages from 2000 or prior to see who has been in
business a while. A good firm in my area has been doing antennas
since 1978. DON'T use the Voom satellite installer, the clown suit
and shoes should have tipped you off to that. Antenna installation
is not rocket science, but does take some technical skill and
experience that most of these types of installers don't have.
