In need of antenna person in North Jersey...

Alright, I'm ready to bite the bullet and pay someone to come in and evaluate my situation for OTA reception. Like many people in North Jersey, I do not receive WPIX or any PBS stations. I can, occasionally, receive NBC as well. I want to talk to someone who knows their stuff as far as OTA digital TV is concerned so I can work with them to get optimal reception.

Anyone know of someone they would reccommend? I live in Clifton, NJ, which is about 10 miles (or so) from NYC.

Thanks.

Is there any Voomer that gets a proper install off the bat? I went
the self service route and put up a channelmaster 3021 multi-bowtie
($24 from starkelectronics.com) using the Voom mounting hardware w/ a
conduit pipe extension and gets just about everything. Took some
fooling around though. A professional install will cost you $300, but
is probably worth it, as antenna reception is very tricky sometimes
just moving the antenna a few feet will result in getting some
channels you couldn't, but then other channels you did all of a
sudden don't come in. If you do it yourself, check
www.antennaweb.org to see if all of your transmitting stations are in
the same general direction, this helps. If not, might make more
sense to get a pro. A professional install should result in perfect
reception of ALL channels reasonably expected, accept no less.

Check www.avsforum.com for recommendations, that is your best bet.
Also, look at yellow pages from 2000 or prior to see who has been in
business a while. A good firm in my area has been doing antennas
since 1978. DON'T use the Voom satellite installer, the clown suit
and shoes should have tipped you off to that. Antenna installation
is not rocket science, but does take some technical skill and
experience that most of these types of installers don't have.

By the way, PBS channels are key, as they currently have the most OTA

I had a guy come with no real luck, I lost his card though dont
remember the company b/c he didn't charge me anything LOL.
I'm in Garfield and have gotton PIX since day one, no luck on PBS
until I got the following antenna http://tinyurl.com/5y94t.
I have never received NBC due to multipath, I hope the combiner and
ESB will help soon. With that antenna roof mounted on a mast maybe
35ft in the air I get it all except NBC, which I get with iO so nor
big deal there for me.

Yes, my install was great and my parents install, who got three receivers,
was flawless. We are very happy with VOOM from the start to the finish.

[VOOM] Re: In need of antenna person in North Jersey...

Hi Rick...

I'm in Little Falls.

There's a guy in Paterson named Tom Fuscaldo who been installing roof
antenna for years. You might have seen his car from time to time with
the "One Eye On Paterson" sign on it. He's a good guy and resonably
priced. He actually ran for governor a few years ago.

Without giving too much info, tell him Dugan sent ya. My dad knew him
years ago.

Antenna person in North Jersey needed

Harry:

Do you have his contact info?

Also, I know I can do a lot of things myself. I've got plenty of access to plenty of good forums. I just don't have the time nor the motivation to do it all myself. I'd rather just pay someone to do it (hopefully) properly.

Thanks.
