Interested in FTA. What do I get?

I live on the west coast and I am a FTA dummy. I'd be interested in receiving everything I can get, so I suppose I'd want a big dish. I have a lot of space. What are my options?

First, see if what you can get interests you. Check TheList (Top of these pages) Another resource is at global-cm.net/mpeg2central.html There's more but not listed as they 'come and go'.
Frequencies 11700 to 12750 require a Ku set up. Small dish - offset design ~1 meter wide (80cm to ? are also used)
Frequencies 3700 to 4200 requires a BUD. Most desirable size is 10 ft.
Rule of thumb for dish size: Bigger Is Better.
Option? there are many.

The key is to figure out what you hope to get and see what it takes. If your goal is free TV no matter what, its pretty hard to be disappointed but if you have something particular in mind, the denizens here can tell you whether your on the right track or a siding.
