From using my Dish Network VIP722 I gather the minimum signal is 65, and I usually get a 67-70. I am using a Jenson branded antenna I picked up eight years ago at big lots for $5. To my knowledge it does not have a signal amplifier as there is no place to plug it into an electrical socket. Right now I am getting a solid 82 signal an am 8 miles from my tower according to Antenna Web. My question would be is there anything I can buy that would increase the signal ?

Your rabbit ears are not configured correctly. The hoop [panel] should face the transmission tower, the ears should be in a vertical V, with a 45° angle at the base of the V. Optionally, you can lay the dipoles down parallel to the floor, still in a V, pointing towards the transmission tower. This is a weird sort of half-rhombic arrangement; I never got it to work for me. Any chance you can get an antenna outside the building to face the transmission tower you want?

Have you considered building a DB4 clone or a Gray-Hoverman?
