The fan is much noisier than the 501 I replaced, and I have never heard it turn off. The exhaust air always feels cool, so I expect that the unit does not need to run the fan non-stop.
With the fan noise, I can't judge whether the disk is always spinning. My 501 had a "wait for the disk" message, but on the 921 I can't tell if the disk is running. Anybody know?
