Is there any 'talk' of new DPP54 or DPP64 switches?

Have there been any indications/rumore/talk that E* is working on and or will release a DPP switch for 5 or 6 locations?

The DPP44 just doesnt cover all peoples need but a DPP54 would be great and DPP64 would be perfect.

It would appear from looking at the SAT screens that the current software can already handle 5 locations.

Cheers-

Another consideration is DPP44. A single line can feed a dual tuner. So a single DPP44 can feed up to 8 DPP-enabled tuners. Also, DP and DPP switches can be cascaded x 3 times giving 12 tuners on a DP34 switch x 3 or 24 tuners on a DPP44x 3.

For the mad scientists out there, I have three DP34 cascaded and then just for grins I added a DPP44 as the fourth switch and it works. I did this just because I could. I only have 8 tuners. All the DP34's have to have power and the DPP44 has the power inserter. Somewhere on this site is a diagram that shows how to set up a 48 tuner distribution using six DPP44.

Boy golly did I ever answer the wrong question!

The need to view 5 slots is only temporary. Once Echo X is at 110, and loclas are moved there, everyone will use either a Dish500 or a Dish1000. For those that want international on 121, that would be the 4th satellite.
I cant come up with a configuration that would reguire 5 satellites once locals are on 110.

What would be nice is if a DPP34 switch would be developed. Too many times have I ran into 3-satellite install with dual-tuners. It's really frustrating to have to run dual-feeds. Especially with a 2-satellite install it would only be ONE feed.

110 main programming
119 main programming
129 HD locals
121 International
148 locals (some markets are on 148 only)
61.5 Sky Angel

So the person who has say Cheyenne, WY locals (which are on 148), Sky Angel and an Int'l NEEDS 5 slots. (If they need HD, they can get the regular HD on 61.5)

when are all the locals suppose to be moved to 110

not all of them are moving to 110

-The minor locals on 129 are probably staying
-The minor locals in the non Dish1000 areas (NE US and Florida) will be first
-The SD 105 stuff will move to 110 next

My locals (Rockford IL) are on 121 and i am getting the dish 1000 installed the 25, im going to eventually have to get a dish 500 pointed at 129. I ask becuase ill be pissed if i get the dish 500 and then like a month later my channels move.

The SD 105 stuff will go before 121 because Dish is leasing the satellite at 105 (They own the satellite at 121) so it won't be for a while (if ever) they move 121 stuff to 110

-The split locals (on 61.5 & 148) they have to do first to comply with the FCC one dish rule
-then I can see them doing 105 to stop having to lease that satelite
-then add a few DMA's to start doing SV chanels (add the one and two channels DMA's)
-Then 121 SD channels

If you ask your installer, he'll probably prefer to install a D500 and point it the 129 instead of dealing with the additional BS and drama of the D1000.

well i called one of the local installers the other day and they said that they dont use dish 500's anymore. so should i just wait until my install of the Dish 1000 and then call dish back and have them set-up another install for the 500

Jgags, that's crazy. There will always be a situation where they would have a D500 to use. Pointing at the 61.5 comes to mind. At either rate, the D1000 isn't a bad route to go, I just prefer to install 500's over the 1000. Not to mention I feel you can get a better signal for the 129 with a 500 vs. 1000. Just one installers opinion.

They didn't show such device at CES, but maybe by Team Summit, they may have 'em. But with the SUPERDISH105 disappearing, it's unlikely that we'll need the 6x4 switch.

I have a Superdish105 right now. My Locals are on 105. I still have my old D500 up on the room. When and if they move my locals over to 110 or 119 I can just hook my D500 back up and send the Superdish back to dish. :)

Thanks,

I think they are trying to phase out the D500 and only use D1000's. I just saw somebody the other day in Minneapolis get a D1000 and the only reason they would need that was for HD (they didnt have HD)

Kind of like Directv phasing out the single LNB dish and using a phase III

Not sure I follow this. The D1000 will not pick up your locals from 121. You still need a SuperDish for this. Are you going to try to use a D1000 to get 110, 119, and 129, and a D500 for 121? Don't know if that combo works.
