Is There Something Wrong With This Receiver

I just purchased a 301 DISH receiver yesterday. I took the receiver and
plugged it into the wall and the green power light came on. I pressed the
On-Off switch and the green light remained on. The light will not go off.
I then put batteries in the remote and tried to turn off the receiver using the
remote but still the green light remained on. This green light will not go off.
Nothing else is connected to the receiver. Is there something wrong with this
receiver? Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you, Robert Barch

If its new its trying to download the software and the power button wont interrupt it... waht is on the screen?

That what I was thinking. If the unit is downloading sofware the green light will stay on.

Note that he did NOT say he hooked it up to a satellite feed.

Poor box is probably just begging to receive bits from the sky.

Good catch... thats exactly why it wont do anything if its not hooked to the sat feed.
