Fireworks ?
I currently have nothing going on , on my screen and mine is set to disable.

Just for grins, I turned mine back on, and Yes, theres Fireworks going off, however, I clicked on the Disable Holiday theme and they are gone again ... btw, don't forget to go to the bottom and hit Save !

I also had to close my browser (Firefox) and reopen after saving my preferences.

I will say that the mask pretty well obscures many of the avatars. It could be smaller and higher in the frame.

It was very hard to read with the snow messing up the screen. Kind of like a bad picture on tv. The fireworks are not much better. No, I love Christmas, just not white snow blocking the print.

It's weird, I was on my desktop this morning and now I'm on my tablet and disabled is definitely not checked and definitely saved and I definitely still see fireworks and masks

I left it on for a day or so. It was cute at first but quickly became annoying.
