Joey 4.0 Upgrade Request

That is definitely not right.. I think Brittany is right and you need to do a software update

The part where it goes blank screen, if you don't do anything, go to settings and drop down to device settings and screensaver and turn that to whatever the longest interval is

I turned on screen saver for the maximum two hours inactivity in all my Joey 4s and Hopper 3 Plus. Will see how goes it the next couple days for the black screen issue.

did I gather you did not do the hopper plus ??

It replaced a Joey 3. You are right I do not have a Hopper Plus.

I like it. Installation wS a snap. Actually simpler than a Joey 3. The Android TV interface is nice and while my stand alone streaming box is still hooked up I have not had occasion to use it since the Joey 4 arrived.

I recommend it to anyone who wants the Android interface or just wants to have streaming integrated into the same interface you use for DISH.

Turn on screen saver. Read post #37.

Are you going to the VERY TOP of the page, then right to the "gear". When you select that, you should get a list of several settings with Dish Settings already highlighted.

larryk, scroll down to Divice Preferences then scroll down to Screen saver and then turn it on.

I do believe this will be corrected in a future software update with the addition of a new Android DISH screensaver.

HipKat and brittanygarden, omg, my black screen issue is fixed. Thanks HipKat for the tip. Turning on screen saver did the trick. This morning when I fired up my Hopper 3 Plus and all my Joey 4s, there was no black screen issue. Also, when backing out of watching a Hopper 3 Plus app the black screen issue was gone. brittanygarden, please inform your back shop/engineer folks that couldn't figure out the black screen issue for some folks that turning on screen saver clears up the problem. I hope I haven't spoke too soon. I am a big pissimist. If after a week the black screen issue is gone, I will be convinced. Thanks again HipKat.

Yes, but when selecting the "Dish Settings" option it just returns to live TV, the other options in that menu do work.

OK, here is one for the engineers... I left everything the same as it has always been, except I turned on the screen saver (I never use them and have always had them disabled) and now I can enter the "Dish Settings" options. It now appears to work as expected! Go figure... Thanks for the tip on the screensaver...

I seen that too.

When you set the screensaver to "Off" it does not disable the timer, it sets it to turn off the screen, which will appear as a black screen.

The option for this will be going away soon, due to issues similar to the above posts.

I have yet to see the screen saver come on.
