First question- I'm assuming the HD DVR that will be coming with our install is the new HR24 model?

Also, since we could get it free, we got a second HD receiver, and one standard receiver. The HD receiver will first be hooked up to an HDTV, but will soon be switched to a standard TV. From what i've read, the HD receiver SHOULD still work on the SD TV, can anyone verify this for sure, or am i likely to run into problems?

Thanks for any help that can be provided!!

No problem at all.
You might want to change the setting under Display back to SD is all.

We had a new install about 2 weeks ago and they installed a HR22. So don't count on a 24.

Well just make sure they give you a HR24.. If they don't have one if it was me I would not let them do the install. This is one of the reason I use my local reseller due to I can make sure to tell them what hardware I want installed before they waste anytime showing up. Either way they should bring you a HR24 that what you choose when you place a order online and being new install thats what they should bring. Lcander you might call Direct let them know that you wanted a HR24 to me thats what everyone should be able to get on new installs or new customers. This is a issues of installers not communicating and making sure they have the latest hardware with them before they do their installs. Instead of just showing up with whatever they have but again some do a better job than others. I'm just glad we have a good reseller here it always varys from state to state.

I read a post on another forum stating that if the Whole Home DVR (aka MRV service) is ordered that the cheapest price-point for Directv is to install the HR24 and H24 due to the internal DECA adapter.

I would also recommend adding the Internet Connection Kit (ICK) to order as this also is DECA, a special install that you don't want to get charged extra for. It should be included but at the time I ordered the upgrade, it was given by request only.

As said before, you have the option to decline the install if they don't bring the expected equipment because you really won't know until you politely ask your installer before he comes in the door. Others have said that Directv and the installer called the morning of the install and questions were asked to diffuse a possible turning away but I think that's rare. There's not much that can be done once installed; it would be difficult to get a HR20-HR23 replaced with a HR24 at a later date unless you're willing to pay the upgrade cost. As an existing customer, Directv totally suggested I buy from outside source to guarantee HR24 was what I got. It's true in many things like employment and purchases, you negotiate up front. There's very little negotiation after the fact.

Just got installed today and didn't know anything until last night when I stumbled on these forums about different kinds of equipment. But we were given the HR24 with our Whole Home setup.

We have an HD tuner on a SD set with no problems.
