L617 and The Beast 1080P - Does it work?

Now that 617 has started to spool out ... I was wonder if those that have 617 could give The Beast a whirl and see if actually does 1080p now.

I would do it ... but I am usually one of the last to get these updates ...

I just tried checking a previously recorded one and it showed 1080i. When I hit the view live tv button, my 622 with L617 rebooted.

Hmmm ... if you have the time ... and patience ... try downloading one again.

It could be that a 1080i version was downloaded?

If you try it again, maybe a 1080p version will be downloaded?

Got 617 myself ... tried watching a download version I had of episode 102 ... no joy

So I deleted it and downloaded 102 again ... still no joy

1080i only ...

Yeah, same issue here - L617 and Ep101 - display info is 1080i ( 1920x1080@60hz). Will try to DL Ep102.
Perhaps need 722 for that ?

Has anyone confirmed that it is indeed viewable in 1080p by pressing the TV remote's info button and checking? I still get "1080p The Beast" in 1080i even though I can get channel 501 in 1080p just fine. That said, the picture quality is beautiful, just falsely advertised.

The first two I downloaded were in 1080i, got L617 last week, Monday downloaded and got 1080p, (also download time was about 9 hrs compared to previous 14hrs) Still no closed captioning though.

Yes...please elaborate on how you confirmed that what you are watching is actually 1080p. We know you can download the the 1080p title but is what you actually watch show as 1080p in your TV menu bar as you watch it??

I tried to download it again yesterday and it still says that the tv resolution can't be used in 1080p and it will do it in a resolution that my tv uses. My 42" regza Toshiba hd tv is from 2007 and it is new to me . I just bought it last month and it was a floor model and reduced to $847.00. It is just like my Dad's regza 32"hdtv. We have actually been able to use a 1080p movie from the recorded portion of DISH's hard drive. Never tried to download over the internet. Both my dad and my tv can do 1080p because I can do Blu-ray in 1080p. I guess I will have to wait till the 922 comes out. Then everything will be upconverted to 1080p.

Sent another email off to Dish ...

I will say that I started the download about 11PM last night. I checked this morning at 10AM and it was done! A nice surprise :up

After DL a five different movies the 622 telling there is no space for other DL. But it has enough space for 6+ hours of HD. WTF ?

Why didn't it do a test for 1080p?
