First, We wish to thank everyone who has assisted with signal reports over the past few weeks to assist with the launch of new transponders on Galaxy19 KU.

Intelsat and RRSat have graciously lit up TP13 (11960) for one last test and we have been asked to provide feedback between now and 12 Noon EST tomorrow, 3/23/2010. TP13 (11960) is fully loaded with active PIDs duplicating TP6. The Uplinker wishes to determine the SQ with all transponders fully loaded.

Downlink Location / Weather Condition / Temperature / Time of Day / Dish Size

  • Peak on TP6 (11842) then scan these three transponders and provide Quality readings.

TP6 - Frequency: 11842 Polarity: Horizontal Symbol Rate: 22000 - SQ
TP13 - Frequency: 11960 Polarity: Vertical Symbol Rate: 22000 - SQ
TP27 - Frequency: 12177 Polarity: Vertical Symbol Rate: 23000 - SQ
Is TP27 (12177) slower to lock or lower SQ?

Thanks again for your signal reports!

TP-11929 v 22000 95/0
TP-11960 v 22000 90/0
TP-12146 v 22000 95/0

This the best I can do.

Note: Seems like TP13 is not as sensitive to dish movement as it was during last test. The SQ holds strong for several bumps off peak.

tp 6 11842 SS 99% SQ 53%
tp 13 11960 SS 99% SQ 82%
tp 27 12177 SS 99% SQ 78%

Can't peek on any tp's but dish is fix to G19.

Clear sky and Cool about mid 40's at 9:45pm CDT and dish size 90cm
11842 has good SS but the SQ has been in the low 50's since they turned it on.

Musher

Note turn off tp 6 and keep tp 13 on maybe give that I try?

At my location, there are a few TPs that I have to adjust to get SQ, and when I do, it lowers it on others. Particularly 12115 V 22425 and 12122 H 22000 are 2 I have to fine tune in, and 11966 H 22000 I just can't get it good enough to watch, it seems to have a very narrow beam or something.

TP6 - Frequency: 11842 Polarity: Horizontal Symbol Rate: 22000 - SQ 67
TP13 - Frequency: 11960 Polarity: Vertical Symbol Rate: 22000 - SQ 67
TP27 - Frequency: 12177 Polarity: Vertical Symbol Rate: 23000 - SQ 60

TP27 (12177) locks just as quickly as the others, but is weaker. Scan is fine, no troubles. 60% quality for the AZBox is a reflection of a really good signal, 30-32% is borderline. A reading above 70% is just awesome for my AZBox. I have found one TP that showed 98% once. That was almost unbelievable for me.

I adjusted my azimuth by changing my longitude from 96.4°W to 96.1°W and 96.7°W to peak on both TPs. Both TPs were peaked when set to 96.4°W longitude (which is my most accurate entry reflecting my true position). Therefore, altering my longitude or the azimuth of my antenna did not improve my signal quality, rather it dropped by 1 to 2% by going in either direction off center.

I don't wish to adjust my antenna elevation at this time as my antenna is tracking the entire arc so well that I don't want to disturb it, sorry. I know that I can improve the signal quality this way from what I have now, but then I sacrifice the quality from certain other TPs on other satellites. My alignment isn't perfect according to theory, but it is perfect in real world application as I get the most satellites, transponders and channels as-is.
