I have a question for those of you who are more familliar with the technology than I.

My Mom plans to get a LCD computer monitor this year, and when she does, she plans on getting me one also. However, while waiting for a good deal, she's a little nervous regarding the lifespan of the LCD monitors compared to the CRT monitors.

While I know that (at least some of the LCD TVs) have a place to replace a bulb when the bulb goes out, how about most LCD monitors?! If so, can it be done by a tech-savvy amateur, or does it have to be done by a professional, and what costs do the bulbs cost, and how long do they tend to last?!

Thanks!

Well, I've had an LCD monitor for about three years with no maintenance or service needed at all. I know this isn't exactly scientific info, but thought I'd chime in anyway. :D
