Legacy 118.7 options sought

TechPortal (informational > equip info > dish 500+ general info) for Dish 500+ still shows
Receivers NOT compatible with DISH 1000: (*no 129/118.7 support)
1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, JVC-IRR, DISHPlayer 7100/7200
There are almost no software release notes for the 4900, so if something has changed I have to rely on users to report it.

thanks bob. We know Phil doesn't like to admit when he's wrong :) ;)
I've already admitted that the 6000 is quirky but I know the 5000 & 3000 only work with the original 4 slots :)

Hope someone who is keep running his 3000 and have 129W will chime; if not then I need clean dust in my closed and find the damn box, update it to latest FW and make screen-shots.
That's will be hilarious to show middle finger to Dish Portal !

As much as I like the TechPortal's information and dislike its navigation and unsizable shrunken PDFs, I'm not sure I'd tell it "you're #1!" (in either sense ;)).

P., where did that list of satellites supported by each receiver come from?

I should return to the data - last posts at dbstalk shows an ability of Dish legacy receivers to 'learn' from current stream. Someone reported 3900 recognized 118.7W from D1000+ dish ( only odd tpns, but that's explainable because of band-stacking and lack of DP support).

So, if you have those old receivers, please post your switch matrix data/screen-shot if in your setup you have more then posted above hard-coded sats.

just for everyones FYI, the LNB's dish uses on the 500+/1000+ dishes are DISH PRO technology. The switch may be either DP or DPP, it depends. Find an old super dish (easy)and buy a used 118.7 repoint kit. as for that receiver......no comment.

We know this. The OP wanted a 3rd party solution to keep his legacy system. There are ways to achieve this without using Dish equipment.

How about a DP adapter on the 118.7 line before it comes to the legacy switch. After the adapter, put a 2 way 3gig both port power passing splitter on the line and feed those to the switch. Not 100% certain it will work, though.

I ran across this at a customer's house yesterday. It's a 3900 connected to a 1000.2. Here's the screen shot.

Finally I found those old receivers and convince an owner give them a chance.

Nope, the stupid 5000 found one and 1/2 sats with wrong displacement (see a picture below) with latest SW 870P
connected to output#1 or output#4 of DP44 with 119/110/129/118
and PI on output#1 and 622 on output#2. Ugh !

Can't use other receiver [3000] - it doesn't start at all,
TV screen have gray color regardless S-VHS or composite output (not that dead black ), pressed all buttons - no dice.

Continue play with 5000 ( Fathers day :) ): disconnect all output ports, left PI and 5000 on #1, see what I got :(. Nothing !
OK. Found the reason for last fail - central wire of coax from PI to DP44 was too short, the DP44 have deep 'throat' and requred the wire comes out of F-connector for 2-3 mm.
A couple more tests: with 119/110 only the 5000 pass tests, but if I connect 129 or 118 to third input, it show the first picture. :(
So, it not learning form stream, sob.

That's interesting idea - may I have the DP adapter for test ? ;)

I just realized there would be a conflict if two receivers wanted different polarity, dp adapter would not ship both down the line.

This will require the 2 way all ports power passing splitter BEFORE two different DP adapters and each adapter connected to port 3A and 3B of the sw64 switch.
