I finally got a chance to try to point my 36" dish from my Sadoun M-2 package.

After an hour of slow movements I have a signal level of 88-89% and a signal quality of 29-30%.

I am pointing at 82W (Nimiq4) TP12224V 2000. This is listed as a strong transponder so should I work on getting a better signal quality or is this good enough.

Thanks for the help.

You can pretty much forget about the "S" level. That just means that your receiver is connected to the LNB at the other end of the cable. It's the Q/quality meter that counts.

If you're aimed at N4 and you have the proper circular LNB on your dish you should get much better quality than that. In fact you could probably get a Q of 100 on that sat with that size dish.

If you're aimed at N4 with a standard linear LNB for true FTA, that quality level is the most you could probably get, as the subscription services use circular signals, not linear.

Then you should be able to get more Quality.
I would think around Q70+, but all receivers are different.
If you can, bring the Receiver and TV to the Dish for fine tuning.
Put "pressure" on the Dish - Up, Down, Left, Right to see what makes an improvement.

I tried a little pressure on each side of the dish and on the top and bottom of the dish.

There was no improvement in quality and if I went a little further quality would go to zero.

I'm not sure if I'm on the sat or not, I think in a strong wind it would push the dish enough to loose quality.

I am using a Fortec Dynamic receiver if you know how they will read on the quality %

Thanks

Double check that you are connected to the "C" port on the LNB
What are the setting you have in the Receivers Setup Menu?
LNB Type
LNB L.O. / Freq

the qph031 is heavy lnbf

you can make slight adjustments on the lnbf slide / move it forward to the dish & away from the dish ( i think i had the most luck all the way out away from the dish)

as mentioned above this lnbf is heavy you can also try to hold the dish and lift slightly on the lnbf or push down on the lnbf lightly to see if this makes and difference in your quality levels.

TP 12311 44% Quality and I loose it if I push on the dish same as the other TP.

gabshere, I tried moving the LNB in and out and up and down with no improvment in quality,

No, I didn't scan the TP.

Had to stop working on it today. when I get back to it I will scan the TP.

Thanks for all the help. I'm sure there will be more questions.

Well the snow we got Sunday melted, so I hooked everything up after work today and scanned the 12311 TP. I got 1 TV channel called CH-1 and 2 radio CH765, CH1200.

Quality is the same as before 40-50%

Am I on the right Sat.

Thanks
Charles
