Today we switched over from the Likes system to the new Google +1 system...

Google has been contacting me numerous times over the past few weeks to add the +1 system to SatelliteGuys so today I finally installed it. I am not sure what this +1 system does for us, but others who have installed it have reported faster indexing of messages that are +1 and others have reported better Google Adsense earnings since putting in the +1 system.

While I could have kept the Likes system on, it was basically a duplicate of the +1 feature.

One good thing about +1 is that members can turn it off in their control panel. :)

Now maybe Google will stop emailing me to add +1. :D

Preferred the "LIKE" system.

You have to have and sign in to a Google account to "+1".

Google is becoming worse than Microsoft. They are starting to be a pain in the ass, if you ask me. They were supposed to be the "anti-evil". No more.

Yes, we posted the two threads at the exact same minute. Then, as I was saying to close that other thread, you closed it before I hit the Post button. We're in sync now.

Yes, I'm disinclined to set up yet another account, so I suppose I'll forego use of the feature.

I don't like it because it seems to be tied directly to my gmail account.... Not something I want disclosed on the open web.

I will keep it like this for a day or two and see how it goes. Its one button click to turn the old Likes back on. ;)

Ditto. I tire of giving more info to the google. If I like something, it is for the benefit of fellow members, and this seems way too much like Facebook crapola.

I won't use this and would vote to go back to the like feature.

If it brings in revenue, all the better. I just don't think it will get used as much as LIKE, and who wants to fiddle with logging in for this purpose? But, money is money and is important, too.
