Philips and Lite-On Digital Solutions (PLDS) introduces its' first external Blu-ray disc reader (BD-ROM) drive to market. The Lite-On DX-401S allows users to take their BD-ROM everywhere they go to playback high-definition content on different PC's via their USB 2.0 connection.

Convenient. I'm surprised they didn't want firewire instead, but I'm happier with USB. Now get me a 400 GB BD burner on reusable disks and I've got my new backup system.

Man, I like it.

Would be great for my travels, would allow me to bring my br's along to watch on the laptop. This could make a good Bday present for early next year, little more than I want to spend right now.

Yeah I could hook one to mine for deer season...(will have a HD satellite receiver along...)and could hook it to my Htpc and move the BD player to the bedroom...

Nothing like coming in from a hard hunt and watching HD... (will bring a HD DVD Player also)...(it is roughing it with a 20" screen)
