I am new to this FTA satellite and try to install 30' dish for galaxy 13 Chinese
programs. When I tried to configure CCTV IR2000 receiver last night, it asked for LNB type and voltage. The choices of types are Universal, 4000, 11750 etc. (The numbers are not exact). What is LNB type and how do I find out what type I should choose for my LNB? And if the choice for LNB type is not universal, then it asks for voltage 0v, 13v or 18v. Do I need voltage for LNB?
Gurus please reply. Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to satelliteGuys.US!

What does it say on your LNBF?

If it is a standard the L.O. setting should be 10750
If its a Universal the L.O. should be set at 09750-10600
Everything else should auto set.

I use the below channel/TP. to find this satellite....

Skylink
11720 Freq.
H. Pol.
26800 S/R.

Interesting it appears your receiver can turn off the power to the LNB. This is good if you have a number of receivers connected to one LNB. Only one receiver should be powering the LNB if they are all on at the same time.

In your case I think it would be 13 or 18 BUT why two choices since you need both voltages to get eather V/H or R/L. Try 13 V.

Any other ideas out there?

OPERATING VOLTAGE Universal KU LNBF

(1) 11.5 ~ 14.0 V = VERTICAL POLARIZATION
(2) 16.0 ~ 19.0 V = HORIZONTAL POLARIZATION
(3) Continuous 22KHz 4KHz HIGH BAND SELECTION

Thanks for your helps.
The info on my lnbf is

DMS international digital Ku band lnbf
Model : ASC321S
RF: 11.7 ~ 12.2 GHz
IF: 950 ~ 1450 MHz

There is no menu with it and the above is all the info I have.
So I am still not sure which LNBF setting and voltage to use.
I tried DMS web page but no info about the settings.

Thanks everybody. I spent about 3 hours today and got all the FTA channels on Galaxy 13. I am really exited. The lesson I learned is that its tolerance on azimuth and elevation angles are almost zero. You have to fine tune to the exact position. This is very different from the experience I have on UHF antenna installation for hdtv receiptions. You can turn UHF antenna 10 degrees and still get all the channels.

Yes the pointing has to be very precise we are talking just a few millimeters and you loose your signal, glad you got it going. Soon you will want to add a motor to get ALL the FTA channels up there, good luck.

Lnbf Lo

DMS International LNBFs always have the LO printed on the label.
We also have a numbering method that can identify the LNBF by model number.
3 = Ku LNBF
2 = Polarity (2)
1 = outputs
-2 = Universal (or number of LO freqs)

So..... 321-2 is a Ku LNBF (3) with dual polarity (2) and single output (1) and it is Universal (-2)

321 is a Ku LNBF with dual polarity and single output and it is standard US

322 is a Ku LNBF with dual polarity and 2 outputs and is standard US

324-2 is Ku LNBF with dual polarity, 4 outputs and is Universal

You get the idea.

Next time you pick up a DMS International LNBF you can read the label and know if it is standard or universal by reading either the LO frequency printed on the label or the model number.

If you call for service, our techs know exactly what you have by the model number. They even know if it is LNB or a LNBF.
