Local Newscasts Ending on Multiple Sinclair TV Stations

In Columbus, Ohio Sinclair owns ABC channel 6.1 and Fox channel 6.3. They advertise that they have the largest news team in Columbus. But they use the same news team for both Channels. The Fox evening news from 10-11 PM has the same news personal and the same content as the 11 PM news on ABC.

Illegal "duopolies" (owning affiliates of two networks) have been a part of the Sinclair game plan for 20 years. No one at the FCC has ever tried to enforce the law. Meanwhile it has a SWAT team (yes, the FCC has a SWAT team) to raid some teenager who has set up a 5 watt pirate station in his mother's basement.

One note...the duopolies that Sinclair skirted were owning affiliates of 2 full powered stations. But in recent years Sinclair has moved the network affiliation on the station they run to the station they own so the FCC can't say much as that is allowed (and seems to be encouraged especially in smaller markets)

at least you have other options. My market is a Gray monopoly with them owning the CBS, FOX and NBC in the market (we have no ABC here). So the news is the same people and at 6 & 10 they simulcast the news on both CBS & NBC.
