Local programming out of service area

I'm sure this gets asked a lot, but I am new.. i live in Dallas, is it possible to get the New Orleans area programming (local channels, sports channels) to my receiver?

No . The spotbeam for New Orleans doesn't reach the Dallas area. Spotbeams are narrow spots over local cities for local delivery , and as such they do not reach everywhere like the regular conus beams for national cable channels.

there are several people attempting to do this right now (to watch LSU baseball this weekend).. some in Tennessee, Arkansas and northern parts of Louisiana have gotten it to work... i guess Dallas just doesnt have a strong enough signal to from the NO spotbeam..
