Locals roll out schedule?

I am sure this has been discussed, but I can't find the exact discussion I am hoping exists!

I am wondering if there is a published "schedule" (and I know to use that term VERY loosely!) of when various markets might expect locals in HD? I am switching from dual-OTA DirectTV and am hoping I will only be without the ability to record 2 HD OTA signals for a fairly short time.

If there isn't a schedule posted, does anyone know anything about when the Richmond, Va. market will be on line?

Thanks!

Hi! I am a newbie also, and was wondering if there is some sort of "plan ahead" schedule for the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton, Pa area, as far as when we are going to get our locals in HD.

You guys are awesome on here, and have really helped a "newbie" understand alot about the satellite world by justing reading all the posts that have been posted here.

Thanks so much from someone that just wants to "learn", so "idiocy" isn't in my vocabulary when it comes to satellite dishes! :)

Dish has unoffically told us "late 2007" But unofficial means "don't hold us to it" DirecTV has told us the same thing, but Customer Support is telling users, 2008.

Thank you, and good to see you here to help this technology nerd. :)

I have had DishNetwork for 8 years, and also have my SD locals, but I'm more than willing to wait for the HD, due to the fact that one more obstruction of an antenna on a roof wouldn't set well with me as far as aesthetics! :D

I'm reasonably certain that E* and D* for that matter has an HD local rollout schedule that they choose not to reveal to their subscribers. This way they can revise as they please or let things slide without incurring any customer backlash.

It would be intesting to know what plans they might have, but we will never know.

Plans are just plans, and plans change.

When plans change, those who wish plans did not change get pissed and vent here, there and everywhere.

Maybe once Dish makes the decision to go all mpeg 4 on hd , we can start adding hd locals back on the schedule. They are getting up to 6 hd channels in the same bandwith as they used to do 3 using the new mpeg 4 encoders. Once they decide to finish the mpeg 4 transition for all hd receivers they can do the same on the locals and add a whole lot more hd locals in the same bandwith.

I don't think Dish has ever suggested that the speed, or lack of speed, of adding HD locals has been related to satellite capacity at all. I believe the issue is mostly contractual, that is, the local stations want more than Dish is willing to pay (at the moment).
