I'm a little surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but a pair of DVD compilations featuring classic Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts were released by Warner Home Video this week.

The 4-disc Golden Collection features 56 shorts, mostly from the late '40s and early '50s (the peak years of the WB animation studio). All the cartoons are presented complete and uncut and feature newly restored picture and sound, and the collection boasts a ton of extra features including audio commentaries, documentary films, music-only tracks, pencil tests, and still picture galleries.

For the budget-minded, there's the 2-disc Premiere Collection, which basically consists of Golden Collection discs 3 & 4, minus the bonus material.

Hopefully, this is just the start of an extensive campaign for these classic cartoons on DVD.
