They didn't appeared as zoomed-in as they have previously. I still prefer the DVD myself...

I agree, I think my standard def. DVD with an upconverting DVD player using HDMI looks better than what I saw on last night.

Also had the same audio problems, but they only last a few minutes.

Too bad...........would have hoped that they would have been better. IMO, this is why more people haven't moved to HD.............not enough quality programing. I know that is why I haven't

Which channel showed them? TNTHD? TBSHD? I hope HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, StarzHD, or HDNETmovies show the Lord of the Rings Triglogy.

I thought the picture looked great on Time Warner, and I didn't have any lip-sync issues.

I still hate TWC, but LOTR looked great for me this weekend.

The problem with TNT broadcasting these in HD is that the LOTR movies were filmed in anamorphic 2.35:1 aspect ratio, which TNT butchers by zooming in in order to not receive complaints about the black bars above and below the picture (to make it 16:9). It absolutely drove me nuts trying to watch it; I'll stick with my extended version DVDs, tyvm.
