Satellite operators shifting their transmission power towards the bigger and more lucrative market of the US mainland has resulted in some cable TV channels no longer reaching Bermuda. CableVision's general manager Jeremy Elmas said his company will continue to do all it can to replace the missing channels with substitute channels as close to the originals as possible. In recent years channels that have been affected by the shifting of focus by the satellite operators, and the switch from analogue to digital transmission, have included NTV, CHCH and WDIV. "Satellite operators have been increasingly turning the majority of their transmission power toward the US to serve their larger and more lucrative customer base," said Mr. Elmas. As a result, Bermuda is frequently outside the satellite footprints for the digital transmissions."
