Had a power outage and when the electricity came back on my VIP 722 said something about the hard drive and all the recordings are gone. Is this normal .

Thanks

Ray
Exactly what does the message say? I had something similar happen to my ViP722k in January. Can you still pause Live TV? Do you still have the nine-day program guide, or does it only go out two days?

It is working perfectly normal. Just don't have any of my recorded stuff. I don't really remember what it said but something about the hard drive crashing. All of the programs I want to record still show up.

That is weird, because normally if it had to reformat the hard drive, all of the timers would also be lost. At least, that is what happened to me.

This doesn't seem to apply in your case but when there is a power failure it can be accompanied by several surges and spikes which can crash a hard drive and computer chips like those in a Hopper.
That's why it's a good idea to plug your equipment into a good surge suppressor or better yet a good UPS.
