MOJO HD will be shutting down on December 1

October 08, 2008 | by Arlen Schweiger
Looks like MOJO HD has unfortunately lost its mojo.

The network, whose all-1080i HD programming is highlighted by fun alcohol-infused content like “Three Sheets” and “After Hours”, will shutdown on December 1, parent iNDEMAND confirmed to Engadget HD.

The company delivered the statement: “The MOJO HD channel was originally conceived as a way to satisfy consumers’ thirst for pure true high definition programming. While MOJO HD accomplished this goal, there is a wealth of HD programming now available and thus we have chosen to discontinue the service.” The shutdown is scheduled for Dec. 1, but the exact date will be determined by individual systems.

Great - so in my case having Charter cable, we just picked up our first new HD channel since I bought my HDTV last November (TBS HD, thankfully in time to catch the baseball playoffs) and apparently now we’ll be losing MOJO HD to even things out.

Sure on the one hand it was a bit rough seeing MOJO’s seemingly dozen programs over and over again, but lately it had added pretty nice old high-def movies like “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Cool Hand Luke” and “Chariots of Fire” to name a few. Looks a bit like what happened with those similarly 100-percent HD Voom channels that were kicked to the curb by Dish Network back in May.

I’m Engadget HD and its commenters in the hopes that Zane Lamprey and his “Three Sheets” adventures gets picked up by another network—we’ll drink to that.
