making a tv card into a satellite tuner

Is there any type of software that would make my hauppage tv tuner card into a DVB card? so i can use it to scan the sats for channels?

No. It's impossible.

Not with the standard analog CATV tuner card, but Hauppauge also sells a DVB Satellite card, the Nexus-S. It's a bit pricey compared to the Twinhan 102, but it might be better hardware, not sure. Most reviews of the Hauppauge line of HTPC (Home Theater PC) cards are quite positive...

Also, after reading several threads here, it seems to be best to have both a stand-alone set-top DVB receiver and the PC card, since the PC card can't blind scan a satellite to find channels but rather must be manually programmed.
