I like the part where they say that Atari developed Lunar lander for their first console. Us old farts were writing programs for this back in the early to mid-70s for PDP-8s and PDP-11s using early vector displays. I wrote a lunar lander (and I certainly wasn't the first) as well as tank vs airplane and a target shooting game back in '74-75.
 
Clever thread title. Like jayn_j i remember a lot of games simialr to Lunar Lander. I wrote one as well (and yes i qualify as an old fart so if the shoe fits call me that) but you have me beat on the tank vs. airplane. I guess that only qualifies me as a half assed programmer (again if the shoe fits). But you did bring back some memories.
