Someone told me on another forum that Dish recently went 1920x1080i on their channels, is this correct?

That should be displayed in your HDTV's System Information screen and it would depend on which resolution you have selected in your Dish Network receiver's HDTV settings.
My new HDTV is reporting in my System Information section 1920x1080i,but I have 1080i selected in my 722k's HDTV settings.
I dont think the tv is an accurate representation, because the Broadcom chip is gonna take 1440x1080i and output it at 1920, Im pretty sure. Im guessing someone with the right sat gear could tell.
Mine supposed to be 240Hz but it's reporting 60Hz also,maybe the 722k is upconverting the 1440 to 1920?.
That 60hz is what is incoming, not related to what your tv's native is. Info buttons will usually give you the source, not the output. I'd guess the HD Box is getting 1440x1080i, then outputting 1920x1080i.
1080i is 1920X1080/30 not 60. 1080i does display 60 fields per second but each field contains only 1/2 of the information for each frame just like the old NTSC had to scan the screen twice to display a complete picture.
Its two interlaced frames for 60 hz, or 29.97 fps. You can't just say it's 30, need to be a little more specific.

Live interlaced content (like sports on cbs) are actually 60 unique 1920x540 fields. Each fields is a unique point in time.
Film based content can be truly interlaced assuming it's done properly.
Then its the job of the display to take the 1080i fields and deinterlace them. For film based content this is relatively easy. For live events, captured in interlaced format, motion adaptive deinterlacing is needed to do the job correctly.

Maybe the feds should have contracted out the Digital TV design and conversion to Apple?
