Micheal Vick to play in UHL in 2009?

Oh was Vick found innocent of the state charges? Nope

State criminal prosecution

Long anticipated separate Virginia charges against all four men were placed following indictments by the Surry County grand jury when it met on September 25. The principal evidence considered was the sworn statements of the defendants during their plea agreement process before the federal court, although the indictments are for different charges. Vick is charged with two class 6 felonies in Virginia, which carry a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment for conviction on each charge.[48]

After several delays, Vick's trial in Surry County Circuit Court was postponed in June, 2008 until after his eventual release from federal custody. Virginia's local prosecutor, Gerald Poindexter, cited the high costs and transportation logistics of proceeding while he was still in federal prisons in Kansas and Florida. With good behavior Vick could be out July 20, 2009, Poindexter said.

after he finishes his federal sentence he will be put on trial and sent back to the pokey, hopefully for the ten years he deserves.

More important news from that article IMHO: Citi Field to be used for football? What kind of idea is that -- I thought teams were getting away from multi-purpose stadiums.

UFL - WFL, USFL, WLAF/NFLE, CFL's US division, XFL.

Citi Field - You can wedge a football field into a pure basebal park. Its done for minor bowl games in SF, Phoenix, and in the old days even Wrigley and Fenway had football. But I cannot imagine the Mets permiting this. One of the reasons the Jets left Shea back in the 1980s was that the Mets contract said no football games until after baseball season.

Vick - Vick's state charges will have nothing to do with guilt or innocense. Lots of crimes are both state and federal crimes. But under our Constitutional system, whoever goes second has to prove a completely seperate element, which is something a judge, not a jury, will decide. For example, they cannot put a guy in the federal slam for 10 years for robbing a Post Office, and then back in the state slam for 10 more for robbery. It just does not work that way, and the state prosecutor in VA should famaliarize himself with the term Nifong.
