The only thing funnier than a Johnny Most sound-alike contest would be a Johnny Most look-alike contest.

- Mike Barnicle

"JoJo wants to go left. Can't. Goes right."

"He fiddles and diddles. And now he daddles. And now he diddles again."

"And tonight, Celtic fans, we have a special treat in store for you as the Boston Celtics take on Rick Barry and the Golden State Debating Team. This 'fact' doesn't show up in the record books, but Rick Barry has never committed a personal foul in his life. Well, at least, that's what he thinks!"

John Miller, who broadcast the Red Sox for one year, had a lot of good voices... especially his Vin Scully voice.

Joe Castiglione was passed over for the number one job a couple of times because he didn't have the classic booming voice, and they gave that lead job to Bob Starr, who didn't know the difference between a ground rule double and fan interference, and who never could understand how to score force or fielder's choice plays.

Castiglione was a gentlemen, but Starr was insecure and felt that Castiglione was trying to show him up, even when he wasn't. I remember once, a player substitution had been made early in a game, yet three or four innings later, Starr hadn't noticed it and kept calling him by the wrong name. There was an awkward silence, and then Starr said, indignantly, "What are you pointing at on my scorecard?"

Dick Stockton had more voice than knowledge, too. He and Harrelson were scarcely on speaking terms the last year they were together. I remember that near the end of their last year together, there was a two or three hour rain delay, so they were stuck trying to act chummy and it was painful to listen to and even more painful to watch, because each time the director would cut to the centerfield camera pointing at the broadcast booth, you could see that they had turned their chairs directly opposite to one another.

Strasburg only struck out 13 in 6.0 innings. Too bad. One more strikeout and it would have been his fifth 14 strikeout game. To put that in perspective, Sandy Koufax struck out 14 or more batters in a non extra inning game only EIGHT times in his career.

Strasburg was picked as National League Pitcher of the Month for April.

he pitched two games against the pirates and those two games he struck out 27 batters.

I heard that he struck out the last seven he pitched to in the first of those games, and seven of the first nine in the second, so over that stretch, he struck out 14 out of 16 batters he faced.

Roger Clemens struck out Corey Snyder the first nine times he faced him, and so when Snyder finally ended that streak by hitting a fly ball out, his teammates came out of the dugout to congratulate him.

I was gonna post this until the breaking news of the Carl Beane accident came across the airwaves.

This latest Beckett disgrace is getting big play here today. Just another in a long line of dispicable behavior by the dysfunctional Red Flops!!

Beckett is pretty defiant about it. His response after last night's performance:

KCK,

The Angles got to play the Twins for 2 of their last 3 series and like I said, the Twins are a slump buster team for their opponents. Tonight the real test starts!

Texas has been in a little (for them) slump this week. I am not too confident about this weekend. The Angels have lost their catcher for 6-8 weeks. We shall see...

Taking 3 of 4 from the team who had the best record in baseball prior to the series is not a slump. Of course getting swept by the Indians prior maybe a slump.

Buchholz pitched six solid innings and then left with the bases loaded with one out in the seventh and the relievers let all three base runners score, two earned.

That's the second time this season that relievers have let in all three inherited runners that Buchholz left on.

Take away those runs and his ERA drops from 8.31 to 7.15.

Dodgers are facing Moyer. There are 5 current players on the Dodgers that were not even born when he first pitched in the majors.

Kershaw

VanSlyke
Jansen
Linbloom

Has there ever been a player to have as good of a week as Hamilton is currently having?

He just hit his 9th HR of the week.

Of course, a lot of it has to do with where he plays. The last 3 HRs he hit at home would have just been routine flay ball outs at Dodgers stadium or Petco.

One of those marine air nights in LA. Kemp hit 2 fly outs and Uribe hit 1 fly out to center field that only went to th warning track that would have normally not only been HR during the day, try would have landed half way up the bleachers. Instead of being 6-1, it is only 1-1.
