MLB blackout rules

[TRG]

My wife is a big Yankees fan. (Don't hate me). We both grew up in New York. Anyway, we live in New Mexico now. (Witness Protection Program. ) I pay for a MLB/YES subscription service. The last three games have been Colorado Rockies vs NY Yankees IN NEW YORK. But the games have been blacked out despite the distance between New Mexico and New York is more than 1,700 miles. Ridiculous.

Yeah, distance is irrelevant, it's all about market ownership. NM is part of Rockies TV territory so it's blacked out to force you to watch it on ROCKIES.TV or wherever the home broadcast rights live (even if they're not available in your city) or the national broadcast where applicable.

Like most blackouts, it's lame and confusing.
