OK, been watching channel 720-1 every day this week, MLB Game Mix, and will be using it almost daily for the next 6 months.

Why does it need a screen saver? Isn't the point of a mix channel to watch several channels, why do I want to do that with a dimmed out screen?

Poll: Is there any value to this station having a screen saver, or should DirecTV remove it?

I don't watch 720-1 for too long. I just use it as a navigation tool to quickly browse which game to tune into. So as for a screen saver, the channel was never idle long enough to witness what you're talking about. With that said, if I did watch 720-1 for an extended time, I wouldn't want a screen saver and am not sure of it's purpose.

Do the graphics around the video change? If not then I would say it needs a screensaver just to prevent killing screens across the country. Maybe they could animate the graphics behind or 'refresh' them every few minutes?

Most TV's today do not have burn in issues.

But some do. And 90% of DirecTV's subscribers aren't buying their TVs today. And think about the sports bars, etc. that leave them on these channels for weeks at a time.
OK...Let's say every single TV has burn in issues, what is the point of putting up the screen saver on a channel like this anyway?

Think about it. Those who have it on this channel want to actually watch it. Why inconvenience them? If they are concerned about burn in, then why have it on to begin with? All they will do is keep pressing the remote to remove the screen saver (it just inconveniences them).

Besides you do not have to have a new TV to avoid burn-in. Only OLD Plasmas have this issue and most HD owner do not have old Plasmas.

I'm not saying the screensaver as-is is a good solution. Animating the background would be a better one, in order to make sure that every pixel changes at least every X seconds/minutes.
