is dishnetwork working a deal to get the mlb network station?

Since the other thread on the MLB thread has gone away, to answer the OP question...
Not at this point they probably aren't. They had the chance a while back but they couldn't work a deal because of contract difference.

Wow, we're deleting posts now? I hope that was really something that needed to be deleted...

Might want to keep it open now the the other one is gone to the WZ?

yeah. I don't think we should give up on the idea of this coming to E before the season starts. My old man would really like this channel but in the meantime he'll have to come to my house. I moved my E vip dvr's to his home. we live close to each other so it's not a long walk. I was able to keep my E service around while having D.

So you're account stacking?

It might have been a misunderstanding. I didn't think I challenged the mod decision, I thought I represented myself as being 110 percent in favor of it. But oh well...

...for what its worth, its clear my comment was not appreciated so its with that in mind I will apoligize to rocky for the misunderstanding. And I'm grateful for the opporunity to continue this discussion.

And with that being said, and staying with the topic, I'm not ashamed to say, all things considered...MLB network may be a sufficient reason for me to switch providers should E* show no initiative to obtain the channel before the season begins. EI or no EI...MLB Network would be the perfect 'middle of the road' channel for those of use baseball fans who enjoy our games, but don't want to commit ourselves fully to a package like EI for whatever reasons.

If MLB network is this important to you ,you could always suspend your D account until the new baseball season begins. no? Assuming you would have both services at the same time.

I'll try and make it PERFECTLY clear to you - one last time. We requested the bickering to stop, and the posts to be ON-topic.

The post deleted here of yours broke both of those requests. It continued the bickering, and was 100% OFF-topic.

cut/paste my response to this similar question on another thread:

I think if there is a condition of carrying EI in order to get this channel, it will be changed. MLB does not want to lose possible subs because of a certain condition. E will probably get MLB Net soon. Then again, MLB does seem to do a lot of stupid things, like their blackout restrictions on EI and their stupid local coverage of FOX Saturday baseball.

I also think D and E will merge sometime in the next couple of years, so both providers (or should I say the one new big provider) will have the same channels anyway.

There IS IN FACT a direct link to offering EI and getting MLB Network.

Carriage
The network has signed contracts with 36 cable and satellite carriers. In a deal that may be copied by other sports league owned channels, MLB tied carriage of the MLB Network to the ability to carry the popular out of market MLB Extra Innings package. In return, cable and satellite providers were offered a minority share of the new network. The only major television provider that isn't currently carrying the channel is Dish Network, who also does not carry MLB Extra Innings, denying approximately 15 million subscribers. Dish Network has not carried the package since 2006.

The above from Wikipedia.

I realize that there is a link between EI and MLBN. But, I do think that will change eventually. There is also an ownership tie as the providers own shares of MLBN. Perhaps they may allow other providers whom do not own shares to carry EI to carry MLBN for a higher costs??? Just thinking outloud, but MLBN can gain another 10+ millioin subs if they do so.

I've been saying all along the following:

E* subs should not get their hopes of in terms of seeing this channel in so long as its tied to MLB-EI.

The optimistic view that E* will carry EI just to bring this channel to their subs is not a realistic one. Most subs interested in EI have already jumped ship, and most won't be lured back. Nice option, yes...but E* is not in the financial position to cough up the capital outlay required to offer EI and MLBN when they pretty much would be taking a loss on it for quite some time. They would be starting from zero. I mean, its easy to blame charlie here for what is otherwise a sound financial decision, however a very unpopular one. Lets face it, not every sub who is demanding MLBN is going to care about EI, and anyone who does care about EI has more than likely already jumped ship to get it.

There is hope that MLB may realize the error of their ways and offer the channel carriage separately, but these types of epiphanies don't happen just like that...it will take a while. And I personally am not known for my patience. In the meantime, I am prepared to accept disappointment here, however what I do about that disappointment is yet to be seen...

D* still needs to get the HBO suite of channels and Travel Channel in HD before I would consider the switch worth my while, but not to say that all couldn't change around March with MLBN hanging in the rafters...
